Our newest club member (Stevo) decided to run his first trip along the Mundaring powerline track. So, a bunch of us tagged along -

So, off into the hills we went. It was a reasonably nice day - a bit of rain around but nothing much to worry about.
Our first obstacle (ignoring chicken tracks, of course) was a nice water hole. Everyone tackled this and Stevo had a go at 'alternate' route and was successful the second time around.

At the next hole, Stevo decided to drive in but wisely attached a snatch strap to the front of the Hilux first. Recovery was essential...

As we were climbing the next hill or so, Sparky went over a mound that Stevo avoided only to find a pesky tree hiding on the other side. Oops. His bash plate got slightly bent but other than that, no damage done.

Next, another mud hole. Even though the bottom of the hole looked like wet cement, many had a go at traversing it. Another group had already tried and failed. We did no better.

After lunch, our next hill climb was a little slippery but good wheel placement got everyone up with little or no trouble, although there was a big rock in the way for collecting diff housings on if you weren't careful.

A little further down the road we had almost come to the end of the track. After a short detour into a boring swamp area (sorry - my fault!) we found another group who had drowned a car...

Finally, we headed off for some serious mud and found some in the surrounding countryside. A few others were there - I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Suffice to say, many recoveries were performed.

All up, a great day. Thanks to Stevo for organising the trip. The only downside was that a big rainstorm hit us on the way home and washed most of the mud off the car. Damn...
