Ghosts On Tour - 2006 - Day 13 (October 11)

On October 10 (day 12) we took the train from Munich to Vienna. We failed to book any accomodation via the Interwebnet before we left Munich but figured it'd be ok once we got there. But, when we got there we still couldn't find anything. In depseration we booked the only hotel room we could find. When we got to the hotel, the room was already gone! Gah!

Anyway, the concierge at the hotel was great - she phoned around and found another hotel with one room remaining and bundled us off over there in a taxi. As it turns out, there were several conferences happening in Vienna that week and there was no accomodation to be found. In fact, we met up with some Australians a bit later in Berlin and they had experienced exactly the same issue. The ended up crashing on the floor of an apartment belonging to a friend-of-a-friend.

During the day we walked around Vienna and visited the Albertina museum which had a whole bunch of Picasso paintings on show. In the evening we went to a Mozart conert which in which the orchestra members all wore peroid costumes. It was held in the concert hall where the famous New Year's Concert is held (the Winer Musikverein). The program was totally Mozart except for the encore which (as per the New Year's Concert) was the Blue Danube Waltz and the Radetzky March.
