Headed out with the Crossing Crew on Saturday for the planned Freeway/Coogee/Fremantle loop - pretty uneventful and the day was nice and cool.
Sunday was a ride with SPR and that was fun - Mt Nasura, Churchman Brook Dam, Roleystone, Karagullen and then into Kalamunda via Mundaring Wier Rd. I decided to do Mt Nasura in the big chain ring and that was a bit of a challenge - I probably won't do that again and used the small chain ring for the first time in about two months to do the climbs around Roleystone. But then back into the big chain ring for the rest of the ride.
Sunday afternoon we did a fundraising session at Herdsman Shops - Anna and I took turns on the wind trainer out the front while shaking a tin. I managed to push my top speed out to 100 km/h at about 190 rpm so that was fun. Definitely not a real-world speed because the wind trainer was dialled down to the lowest resistance.
Tuesday morning was hill repeats around Bold Park at a fast pace. And then Anna convinced me to go out to the velodrome with her on Tuesday night. That was reasonably enjoyable - I hadn't been on the track for about six months so had to come to terms with constant pedalling and no brakes again.
Thursday was an afternoon river ride. We nearly got taken out by a semi-trailer on the Stirling Hwy road bridge in Fremantle - despite having a free lane the truck driver gave us enough clearance for the handlebars and about 5 cm each side of the bike. I was going to ride up and give him a piece of my mind but the lights turned green just before I could get there...
Tomorrow is another Jarrahdale ride - we may be doing a different route back which will make it a little longer - maybe 170 km/h or so. And then I might go back out with the SPR crew on Sunday again. Anna is riding a criterium on Sunday so I might try and get back from the hills in time to watch.
Just another week on the bike.
