Afternoon Powerlines Run

February 6, 2010
I decided it was time to get back out on the tracks and late in the afternoon was the only time I could do it. I was joined by Gerry and Pete in Pete's brand new Jeep, Callum, Callan (not to be confused with Callum), Sparky and Laz.

Airing down
Laz and I decided to do a tricky little descent that was a bit rocky. Gerry has some video of this - should be available soon. On the way down I succeeded in narrowing my already crunched exhaust pipe. Need to get the replaced and put a smaller muffler on, methinks.

Somewhat ovoid

I'd already attacked it with the grinder after a previous incident

Laz coming down the same obstacle
Next we had a bit of a play in the usual places.
Callum coming out of the bowl

The view from inside the bowl
Callan in the bowl
Sparky getting out of the bowl
Sparky showing off the Paj's traction control
Callum using the Jeep's traction control
Callan driving up the hill
Callum lifting a wheel
Sparky using the traction control again
Sparky coming up near the fencline the hardway
Callum climbing the same hill
Just at this point my camera ran out of batteries which is such a shame because Laz did an amazing climb up the fenceline that I'm sure had some serious sphincter action happening inside the cabin. Pity we didn't get it caught on camera - it was a great show.
The way Sparky's Pajero climbs things is amazing - it almost makes we wish I'd gotten the auto transmission in the Jeep - it makes using the traction control so much simpler - no riding the clutch, no chance of stalling - just gently (or not so gently!) apply throttle and away you go...
