We managed to scrape together five 4WD vehicles to do this trip.
The plan was pretty simple - go from Mundaring to about 20km outside of York by following the powerlines. Trip notes were sourced from Skip - thanks! We were a bit worried about the track after reading this, but Dennis and I pre-drove it and it has been significantly improved - unless you wanted impossible terrain in which case improved is not the right word.
Stu's aim for the day was to get bogged up to the doors. Now, we know this isn't normal but that's Stu all over. So, he provided us with the first bit of excitement.
First, Stu lost his number plate in this hole. So, he had to go fishing. At the top of the shot, you can see the "chicken" track which Geoff and his brother-in-law took and at the bottom of the shot is the "impossible" track - more on that in a minute.

Next, Stu decided he wanted to try the "impossible" part of the track. So, he did.

Of course, this gave us an excuse to practice our recovery techniques. We used two snatch straps and dragged him out using the trusty 40-shorty. Stu had been telling us there was water in the car but we didn't realise quite how much 'til he opened the door.

After this, we had a bit of a play in the mud. Stuart, Geoff, Dennis and myself all had a go. We were traversing a small mud patch that looked and felt pretty boggy but in reality was quite a bit easier than that.

Stu decided to leave early, but took a wrong turn and ended up in a swamp. His strategy was to drive faster which in this case didn't help too much. I walked in and decided it was firm enough to follow part of the way, but it wasn't. So, Dennis winched me out and I snatched Stu out. Very messy. The mud was so sticky that digging wasn't helping and once the surface was broken walking was a bit tricky.

Along the way, we found a big puddle. I can assure you that Dennis' car is in this picture, behind all the water. The car you can see is Geoff's GQ Patrol.
